I am the Alchemy of Money and Resource
Chocolate is the answer, no matter the question
Symbol – Bull, Ruler – Venus, Metal – Copper, House – 2nd, Element – Earth, Modality – Fixed, Humor – Melancholic, Body – Throat, Polarity – Scorpio, Quality – Feminine
The name “Taurus” comes from the Latin word for “bull.” The Taurus glyph ♉️ depicts the horns of a bull, which is the symbol for Taurus.
Taurus is the second sign of the zodiac and presides over the second house, the house of value and possessions. It is the first of the fixed signs. Fixed signs can be stubborn and inflexible, but they are also reliable and steadfast. Taurus begins in the middle of spring when the earth has fully awakened from its slumber and is becoming lush and verdant. Taurus hosts Beltane, one of the eight Wiccan sabbats, which represents fertility and the marriage of the Queen of the May to Jack of the Green.
Taurus is ruled by the planet Venus, and, like the goddess, those born under this sign may be physically beautiful. The energy of Taurus is yin and quintessentially feminine. As an earth sign, it correlates to the melancholic humor, characterized by coldness and dryness.
Taureans are known for being very present in the physical world and are highly attuned to the five senses. They are sensual and luxurious, enjoying good food, sex, music, art and perfume; they appreciate beauty and may be artistic and musical. I wonder if synaesthesia is common amongst Taureans because they are so in tune with their senses. They are grounded, reliable, consistent, and patient, often appearing physically strong and robust.
However, they may be averse to change, as it threatens their sense of control, safety, and security. They prefer routine, knowing what they like and liking what they know. Taureans place a high value on their material possessions, which can make them avaricious and reluctant to share. They can also be jealous, possessive, and vengeful, resembling their opposite sign, Scorpio. Like Libra, the other Venus-ruled sign, they may exhibit laziness and overindulgence, particularly regarding their love of food.
I see archetypal Taurus in health as psoric, and I would posit that it responds well to the orthodox anti-psoric triad, Calcarea Carbonica, Lycopodium and Sulphur.
“Human beings naturally evolved alongside psora, and so there is a human tendency to move into sulphur states as part of our struggle to grow and mature. Sulphur forms a well-known complementary triad with Lycopodium and Calcarea Carbonica. These three remedies address the natural struggles of a person to grow into independence (Calc), embrace responsibilities (Lyc), and mature with a healthy ego (Sulph).” – David Kempson, Classical Homeopath
Homeopath Marcia Weichers, asserts that Sulphur is strongly indicated for Taurus.
Taurus governs the neck, throat, thyroid, tongue, salivary glands, and ears. Natives may be prone to upper respiratory infections, tonsillitis, cough, and thyroid problems. Taurus also rules the voice, and those born under this sign may be good singers.
Hepar Sulph is effective for tonsillitis, and Lachesis is noteworthy not only because it is an excellent remedy for sore throats but also because it is indicated for Scorpio, which opposes Taurus. Often the answer lies in the opposite.
The pathology of Taurus is often caused by their stubbornness, inflexibility, greed, and overindulgence.
The second house represents money, material and immaterial possessions, and one’s sense of self-worth. I see Bryonia as sharing some of its keynotes with Taurus, namely: “Mind fear, poverty”, “Mind obstinate”, and “Mind business talks of.” It is also a very effective remedy for tonsillitis. Kali Carbonicum, which shares similarities with Bryonia and works better in chronic cases, may also fit the Taurean picture.
Homeopath, Madeline Evans associates the remedies Green and Emerald with the earth signs, Taurus and Virgo. The colour green is associated with the heart chakra governed by Venus, as is the precious gemstone emerald. Emerald is also associated with being able to let things go; Taurus can hold onto things too tightly for fear of not having enough.
In his writings about astrology and the periodic table, homeopath Luke Norland maps stages 7 to 12 of the periodic table to the fixed signs, equating stages 7, 8, and 11 with Taurus. Norland states that Taurus, with its practical earthy nature, belongs to the Ferrum series.
Taurus is aligned with the Ferrum series of remedies, being concerned with everyday matters such as work, keeping house and other routine activities.
Ruled by Venus, whose metal is copper, Cuprum (also from the Ferrum series) is suited to the Taurus picture.
To paraphrase homeopath Peter Morrell on copper:
People with an excess of copper, like Venus, are mild and artistic, go with the flow, create harmony, and will never upset others needlessly. This trait is prominent in artists of all kinds; they enjoy sweet things and sentimental films.
Natrum Sulphuricum is the designated tissue salt for Taurus. Nat Sulph is known as the water-eliminating tissue salt and is essential for the healthy digestion of sugars and starches.
The Hierophant in the Tarot is related to Taurus. Themes of this card are: stability, security, self substantiation, permanence, tradition, fixity of beliefs, and unwillingness to change, all of which can be associated with the sign of Taurus.
There are, of course, many remedies that may fit Taurus depending upon the astrological chart as a whole and other homeopathic and pathological factors.
